PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING

Need an evaluation to receive a psychologist’s diagnosis?

Want culturally based testing?

Need diagnostic clarity?

Seeking a second opinion?

We are here for you.

Testing Available In-Office or Hybrid (in-office + video)

If you are in need of psychological testing for diagnostic clarity, we can help by administering a Psychological Assessment. At Cholula Psychological Services we conduct psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults to assess biological, cognitive, emotional and behavioral factors.

We carefully consider developmental, cultural, and contextual factors to ensure an in-depth understanding of each individual's unique circumstances. We offer a deep understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds, with a particular focus on the Hispanic, Latino, and Spanish-speaking communities. Our psychological assessments provide the clarity needed to make informed decisions, which can open the door to more targeted and successful interventions.

How Does a Psychological Assessment Help?

Regardless of whether an individual tries to hide their problems or openly communicates them, and whether or not they have previously received a diagnosis, the true underlying cause of their problems may be difficult to identify without formal testing. A psychological assessment uses a variety of tools to examine the different layers of the problem and contributing factors, ultimately arriving at a well-formed clinical diagnosis using proven scientific measures to consider all possibilities for a diagnosis.

After a psychological assessment is administered, if the individual is diagnosed with a DSM-5 diagnosis, they are referred to appropriate services or a specialist depending on the need.

If the individual is a student or is receiving other mental health therapy, Dr. Jose Cholula Bruno may provide specific recommendations and strategies to better support mental health treatment.

What is a Psychological Assessment?

The term “psychological assessment” may sound intimidating, but it is really just a tool used by psychologists to help identify a diagnosis and guide treatment.

A psychological assessment uses standard measures and screeners used to identify themes and patterns that may lead to a DSM-5 diagnosis. Upon identifying a proper diagnosis, appropriate referrals and recommendations for services may be provided to the family, therapists, medical provider, psychiatrist or community services provider.

How We Administered the Evaluation

Testing a minor: A psychological assessment consists of different factors such as assessing the child from the parent, caregiver or school provider’s perspective; collecting background information; observing the minor in a natural setting; and completing projective measures to identify problem solving strategies.

Testing an adult: the psychologist will gather information about various aspects of your personal history, cognitive functioning, emotions, behaviors, and psychological history. The assessment include a clinical interview, standardized questionnaires, cognitive assessments, and behavioral observations.

Appointments Include:

Session 1: Clinical Interview

Sessions 2 and 3: Administer Measures

Session 4: Feedback & Delivery of Report

Please Note: Each case is different has unique factors that will determine the number of sessions needed. Some cases may require additional measures and consultations.
