PARENTING SUPPORT
Do you feel lost as a parent?
Battling for control?
Nothing seems to work?
Feeling alone with parenting?
We are here for your family.
Therapy Available In-Office or Through Video.
Parents and caregivers can feel like they’re not good enough, as well as overwhelmed and at a loss for how to actually get positive results. Some blame themselves. Some blame the child. Some blame the generation or society as a whole.
The tricky thing about parenting approaches is there isn’t a “one size fits all.” This is because not all children are the same—they each have different personalities. The challenge for parents is finding a positive approach that will work for both parent and child.
Our mental health providers have helped countless families and use positive, evidence-based parenting methods that work with children of the new generation. Our providers offer parent-focused family support using three main approaches, outlined below by age:
AGES 4-8
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
PCIT services are held for an average of 12-15 sessions. PCIT empowers parents and helps them become better leaders. Parents begin with phase one: focusing on child-led interactions that strengthen the parent-child relationship.
The strengthened relationship built in the first phase is the key to success in phase two, which focuses on parent-led interactions such as giving commands, rewarding compliance and appropriately managing non-compliance.
Both phases of PCIT focus on mastery of a new parenting skill before being introduced to the next.
PCIT interventions include both the child and caregiver in each session, in-office or through telehealth.
For each session, your PCIT provider will check on your progress, observe a play session, and coach the parent or caregiver on their use of skills.
AGES 2-10
Parent Child-CARE (PC-CARE)
PC-CARE is a 6 week brief intervention that focuses on developing positive parenting skills and enhancing the parent-child relationship. It is designed for parents who want the benefits of PCIT but in more of a brief format.
Each weekly session includes the child and the parent or caregiver, and new positive parenting methods are taught. The skills are reinforced with daily homework of special playtime.
New skills are taught weekly without requiring mastery of the previous week’s skills.
Sessions can be attended in-office or through tele-health from your kitchen table, living room or a bedroom.
For each session our providers will check on your progress and skill effectiveness, check on PC-CARE homework, observe a play session, and coach the parent or caregiver on use of the PC-CARE skills.
